We are the leaders in classroom innovation.
Bridging the gap between the research lab and the classroom.
Neonano has developed a proprietary training module that helps to bring real-world nanoscale environments into the classroom. This educational kit, Nanonkit™, enables students to create water soluble nanoparticles that encapsulate three different drugs. The encapsulated drugs within the newly created nanoparticles can then be seen under UV light and emit three separate and distinct colors. The students manufacture the nanoparticles, encapsulate different drug products (acetaminophen, aspirin and ibuprofen) and examine the effects of chemical structure on the function of the different polymers and encapsulants. The idea is to reinforce and advance new teaching techniques specifically for industrial application. Of course, as is necessary for any lab activity, we have also developed a detailed protocol for each student to follow along with a set of strategic questions to be answered. These questions are designed to guide the student to practical understanding of the laboratory experiments and conceptual understanding of the technology and its potential applications. Currently, we are in the process of running a trial program with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell (UML) to gain feedback on the relevance, value, and ease of use for NanoKit in the classroom setting. NanoKit can serve 2-4 students per one-time use and can be utilized at each course level in a number of different ways to be as basic or as advanced as is necessary. There are no direct or comparable competitors to this educational kit on the market today. Neonano
NanoKit
NanoKit is designed to provide a fundamental introduction to nanoparticle production and drug encapsulation technologies, and the interdependencies of form and function. NanoKit is intended for use introductory, as well as advanced level chemistry and engineering courses.
Advanced level classes may investigate extensions of the NanoKit experimental protocol, such as:
•UV analysis of the materials
•NMR analysis of products
•Comparison of different drugs
